We Need Your Donations of Usable Items
Donate Clothing, Household Items, Furniture, Appliances, Cars & Boats - Your Donations Provide Valuable Programs for our Veterans!

Items in your home that are in good condition are always needed for our thrift stores. These items will be used in our various centers or sold to raise money for our Veterans programs. We will schedule to pick these items up at no charge. These items should be in good condition. Please fill out the contact form or call 954-533-2002 for more information. With your support we are changing lives one donation at a time.

The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects, Michael Winslow, will be performing live. The Police Academy and Spaceballs star will have the crowd cracking up with his amusing sound effects and impressions. Michael was also heard, but not seen, when he gave the voice to Stripe, the evil little creature, in another Hit Movie “Gremlins”. He also did voice-overs for Disney and Universal Studios in such rides as “Back to the Future and Terminator”.

Michael, a master of vocal gymnastics, can imitate over 10,000 sound effects using his voice alone. Whether he is recreating the frenzy of Jimmy Hendrix playing the guitar, or the roar of a jet

VSO National Transitional Housing for Veterans

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide sober transitional living for indigent veterans and to offer supportive services to help veterans recover from addiction and/or life’s misfortunes quickly so they can return to a successful independent life style. Veterans New Life Haven is in Florida, but is open to veterans across the nation.

VISION

Our vision is to change the lives of as many indigent veterans as we can in the U.S by opening Veterans New Life Haven facilities across the nation.

VSO National Transitional Housing for Veterans would like to raise enough funds to continue providing a Safe Center as well as open additional transitional housing safe centers all over the country. This center is a shelter where veterans can bring their families for food, shelter, and support during times of hardship. The VSO Safe House offers private rooms, a common area including a kitchen, dinning room, and recreational area for guests. The center is also a stepping stone for homeless veterans to transition to a better quality of life for themselves and their families. The center gives homeless veterans a chance to leave the homeless life behind.

Everyone should show their support for veterans by listening to the best veteran radio show on Internet Radio. Veteran's Support Organization has sponsored this show in order to keep veterans all over the country and the world informed on important issues that effect their everyday lives. The host of the show, David Knapp, is the Southern Commander of The American Legion and is a veteran who dedicates his heart and soul to helping veterans.
This show offers any information on events, benefits or any thing else that will benefit Veterans, Active Duty and their families. Knapster will also do shout outs to supporters of the show and our Soldiers and will as the opportunity presents itself, have an occasional guest whose company is interested in hiring Veterans. We will also try to help Veterans with problems with VA issues, claims or anything else by using the strengh of the American Legion and other support networks like Veteran's Support

VSO has work programs for Veterans and Non-Veterans that collect donations to help our veterans. This work program serves a dual purpose as the funds collected are helping Veterans in need while homeless and/or unemployed are being provided work and the ability to improve the quality of their life VSO is a true non-profit charitable organization where your donations given to our collectors out in the field go directly to supporting American veterans.

Facts about Homeless Veterans

Fact
About 1 out of 3 of the adult homeless population has served their country in the Armed Services. On any given day, as many as 200,000 veterans (male and female) are living on the streets or in shelters; and perhaps 400,000 more experience homelessness at some point during the course of a year. Unfortunately they will spend the night hungry and alone.

Why are veterans homeless?
In addition to the complex set of factors affecting all homelessness - extreme shortage of affordable housing, livable income, and access to health care, a large number of displaced and at-risk veterans live with the lingering effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and substance abuse compounded by a lack of family and social support networks.
A top priority is secure, safe, clean housing that offers a supportive environment which is free of drugs and alcohol. While "most homeless people are single, unaffiliated men... most housing money in existing federal homelessness programs, in contrast, is devoted to helping homeless families or homeless women with dependant children," according to " Is Homelessness a Housing problem?" in Understanding Homelessness: New Policy and Research Perspectives, published by the Fannie Mae Foundation in 1997.
